Description
With perfectly formed and picotee double flowers, season-long flowers spring through summer, exceptionally high cold and disease tolerance, the Double Delights Stargazer is a beautiful lacecap hybrid Hydrangea that features clusters of large lacecap blooms with very unique and unusual double picotee flowers that vary from pink to purple or blue with creamy white edges, depending on soil acidity. A compact plant at only 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, this beauty is a star in garden beds or containers!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing naturally 3 to 4 feet tall and a little wider, the Double Delights Stargazer Hydrangea is suitable for garden beds or container culture. It is ideal for use to provide outstanding texture and color as an accent in home foundation plantings and in flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. It is especially stunning in small to large groupings or as a dramatic, colorful hedge.
Suggested Spacing: 3 to 3.5 feet apart for solid hedges; 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Cold Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Hydrangea variety is not winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know that it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and place back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
The Stargazer Hydrangea is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil with average fertility and full sun to part shade in northern zones and part shade (morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun) in southern zones. For best flowering, we suggest 4 hours of direct sun light per day. As with so many other ornamental plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic.
Note: Stargazer is a Hydrangea macrophylla species that produces its flowers on both old wood (during the previous year) and new wood (the current seasons growth). It does not require pruning but can benefit from it.

I can’t stress enough how wonderful it is to order and work with Wilson Bros Gardens!!! Starting in April 2020 I began my search for Star Gazer Hydrangeas to plant in my daughters’ memory garden. Nothing available locally, so I switched to the internet. No plants online but I left massages with nurseries that had a place to request “sold out” plants if more became available. As the summer progressed, I thought that I had located the hydrangeas at two different gardens other than Wilson Bros. I sent money and, long story short, they didn’t have any and refunded my payment. THEN, Wilson Bros contacted me that they had some available. I ordered and they have been awesome!!! When my plants arrived, they were carefully packaged. They’re such healthy hydrangeas! I can hardly wait until spring.————————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks so much for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
